Ingredients
1poundgrass-fed beef
1onionfinely chopped
2cloves garlic minced
1tbspolive oil
1tspdried thyme
1tspdried rosemary
1sheet puff pastry Any brand I recommend Pillsbury, thawed
1eggbeaten (for egg wash)
Instructions
Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper
Prepare Filling: In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and minced garlic, and sauté until softened, about 3-4 minutes. Add thinly sliced grass-fed beef to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula as it cooks. Season with dried thyme, dried rosemary, salt, and pepper. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
Assemble Braids: Roll out the thawed puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface. Cut the pastry into equal-sized rectangles. Spoon the beef mixture onto one half of each pastry rectangle, leaving a border around the edges. Fold the other half of the pastry over the filling to create a braid shape. Press the edges to seal and crimp with a fork.
Brush with Egg Wash: Place the beef braids onto the prepared baking sheet. Brush the tops of the braids with beaten egg to give them a golden finish.
Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the pastry is puffed and golden brown.
Serve: Remove the beef braids from the oven and let cool slightly before serving. Enjoy your delicious homemade beef braids!
